U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's partner, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance or NDPA, has been working with USA Swimming on several projects to make swimming lessons accessible to more families and to strengthen community aquatic centers. Both organizations work diligently to prevent drowning incidents in all waters.

An NDPA report, presents information that shows how this summer has been marred by tragedy for too many families. A snapshot of age groups, gender, types of water and states with highest number of drownings occurred. This data is provided by USA Swimming’s Facilities Development Director, Mick Nelson. He compiles the data from nationwide media reports.

USA Swimming has also developed a terrific Aquatic Resource Manual to assist the many community pools whose existence is now in jeopardy due to drastic local and state budget cuts. See the USA Swimming website to find out more about this important program.
