ISR Certified Instructor Nicole Meade and CrossFit Pinnacle have partnered to raise awareness for water safety and drowning prevention in Ocala, Florida. Families in Marion County are invited to join the fun as we attempt Survival by Burpees, a competition to see who can complete the most burpees while raising money to provide scholarships for more children to participate in ISR Self-Rescue survival swimming lessons.

Survival by Burpees begins at 11:30 a.m. with small groups competing against each other to drop to a squat position, extend back feet in one quick motion to assume the front plank position, and then return to the squat position and upright again as many times as possible. In a special competition, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion County Fire Rescue are pit against each other to see which department’s personnel can complete the most burpees.

During the event, families will have the opportunity to view an ISR Self-Rescuesurvival swimming lesson demonstration and learn more about how to prevent drowning.
