The Tampa Tribune featured the Infant Swimming Resource program at the South Tampa YMCA. The ISR team has been working with children at the facility over the past few weeks, providing the first opportunity for families – who may not otherwise have had access to ISR lessons – with the survival swimming skills that are necessary to keep their children safe around water.

Water safety is a serious issue for children in the Tampa area. Hillsborough County currently leads the nation in accidental drowning, and alone has investigated 18 drowning cases involving children three years of age or younger since 2009. As Tampa Tribune writer Josh Potilove notes, it’s the abundance of access to water that putsFloridachildren at a greater risk for drowning. And more of a reason for why Infant Swimming Resource continues to expand its services to facilities such as the South Tampa YMCA – to ensure Not One More Child Drowns.

We are excited to be working with the South Tampa YMCA, who is proud provider of ISR lessons. These lessons are being sponsored by CrossFit Kids, who is working with ISR to “Prepare Children for the Unexpected” by providing families throughout the nation with critical water safety resources. We are looking forward to sharing the results of our work as we meet more Tampa families through this partnership.
